Pressure Cleaning & Power Washing FAQ

I see that Pressure Clean Plus is a VA State licensed Company. Why is that important and how does that benefit me as a Customer?

Answer

Any individual can obtain a city Business License by going to City Hall and paying the required licensing fee. However, by just having a business license does not necessarily qualify or guarantee that the individual has the skills, knowledge or insurances required to perform the task they are possibly going to be hired for. It only means that they are agreeing to pay taxes on the money they collect for the service they offer.

At Pressure Clean Plus, we are regulated by the State of Virginia and required to follow rules and regulations regarding OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Administration) and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) to use the proper commercial chemicals and products safely and effectively. Otherwise, we can lose our credentials and be fined by the State for $1000’s of dollars. We are also required to carry the minimum mandatory General Liability Insurance of $1 million dollars (which is something that most individuals with only a City Business License do not carry). This gives you the peace of mind knowing that our Company is fully trained, knowledgeable and carries the required Insurances to protect you from any liabilities of the services we perform.

Other companies offer very low prices. Are your services more expensive?

Answer

After many years of research, we have found that low, sub-standard price offers result in the most complaints and unresolved issues. By using inferior chemicals and products only results in poor service and dissatisfaction for customers. And as the saying goes “You Get What You Pay For”.

At Pressure Clean Plus, we strive to continuously research for the most effective chemicals and products on the market that will provide our valued Customers with the best quality and service for their hard earned dollar. Professional chemicals and products are more expensive to use; however, we have found that they provide the most exceptional and long lasting results that should be expected from a professional company like Pressure Clean Plus.

What is the difference between a “Softwash” and a Pressure Wash?

Answer

Generally a “Softwash” is strictly a chemical cleaning. The chemicals are applied to the surface using extremely low pressure (the same kind of pressure that comes from a garden hose). We use a pressure wash machine to propel the chemical detergent onto all surfaces, high and low. Once the chemical is applied, it dissolves the green algae, mold, mildew, dirt and pollen and is then rinsed with water, (again, the same kind of pressure that comes from a garden hose). This leaves the surface clean and rejuvenated. Keep in mind, some surfaces require the use of higher water pressure to clean, however, we only use the minimal amount of high pressure required to effectively clean the surface so that there is no damage to the surface.

What is the difference between having my Deck cleaned and having my Deck stripped?

Answer

Cleaning a Deck basically just removes the surface green algae, mold and mildew. However, if you are wanting to apply a different color stain than the existing, you generally need to have it “stripped” to totally remove the old barrier of stain before the new stain is applied. The new stain would just sit on top of the old stain and would not penetrate into the wood as it should. Think of it this way. When you paint your finger nails and change from one color to another, you must use Nail Polish Remover before you put on a different color. You may wash your hands many times just to clean them, but that does not remove the color. You have to use the Nail Polish Remover. The same goes for the Deck.

Is it better to use high pressured water to clean vinyl siding or use a chemical?

Answer

Many companies will “blast” the contaminants off surfaces in order to cut down on service costs. However, this is not always effective. Think of it this way. Do you clean the grease off your stove with just water or do you use some sort of cleaning product (i.e. 409, Fantastic…etc.)? The same applies to cleaning the siding of your home. High pressure on vinyl can remove the protective coating that manufacturers apply to new vinyl. We NEVER recommend the use of high pressure on vinyl siding.

Can the black streaks on my Roof be cleaned or do I need to get a new Roof?

Answer

The unsightly black streaks you see are Fungus. You don’t necessarily need to have your Roof replaced. You just need it professionally cleaned. The Fungus will continue to get darker and spread over the entire Roof within a short period of time unless properly cleaned. We use a Roof cleaner that is applied with a “Shower Mist”. Once the chemical dissolves the Fungus, we again use a “Shower Mist” of water to rinse the chemical and Fungus without damaging the Roof’s Asphalt granules.
